About Central Texas Cyber Range
The Central Texas Cyber Range (CTCR), a collaborative initiative of Baylor University and McLennan Community College, seeks to invest in targeted programming to close the cybersecurity talent gap in Texas and across the country. CTCR offers a wide assortment of opportunities ranging from those for K-12, community college, undergraduate, graduate, and continuing professional development levels. Through industry partnerships, transformational applied research, consulting practices, and community engagement, CTCR strives to establish Central Texas as a cybersecurity workforce hub.

New 2025 course partnerships
In our initial cohorts, students can select between two GA courses, based on their schedules and career goals. Each course embeds opportunities for learners to complete an associated industry-recognized credential following course graduation.
Python Programming Short Course
- Learning Hours: 40
- Program Length: 10 weeks
- Live Session Cadence: 2x per week
- Live Session Duration: 2 hours
- Async Weekly Duration: 1-2 hours
- Credential: PCEP – Certified Entry-Level Python Programmer (Exam PCEP-30-0x)
*Optional exam not included in tuition

IT Basics Short Course
- Learning Hours: 120
- Program Length: 12 weeks
- Live Session Cadence: 1x per week
- Live Session Duration: 2 hours
- Async Weekly Duration: 8 hours
- Credential: CompTIA – CompTIA A+ Core 1 (220-1101) and Core 2 (220-1102)

How to apply
Please submit only one application for your first choice program. Each course can enroll up to 35 students. Qualified applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Admissions Call
Within a few days, a GA admissions representative will reach out to you within a few days to schedule a phone conversation. This will be your opportunity to ask any questions about the course curriculum, financing options, and expectations to ensure the program fits your goals, budget, and schedule.
Secure Financing
Discuss payment options with your admissions representative. We understand education is a significant financial investment, so we provide several flexible options to help you achieve your educational goals. You can choose a financing plan that’s best for you then secure your enrollment.
Enroll & Start Pre-Work
Officially enroll in the program; all enrolled students will be assigned selected asynchronous pre-work to help prepare you for the class.

- You must be planning or interested in launching or growing your career in tech.
- You must be 18 years or older and have obtained a GED or high school diploma.
- You must have access to a computer, reliable Wi-Fi, and the appropriate operating systems.
- You must be able to commit to traveling to the CTCR campus for in-person classes.
- You must complete the online application.
- You must be willing to participate in virtual community workshops and sessions offered to all sponsorship recipients.
Course costs
Throughout the admissions process, prospective students will work with the General Assembly team to identify the financing options that work best for their budget.
